About The Program

CaSPA is the dynamic Performing Arts Program of Sydney Catholic Schools.

Almost 20 years old, CaSPA has grown from a purely performance-based program, to now covering all areas of the performing arts across the streams of Specialised Programs for student performers and creators; Teacher Professional Learning, In-School Support and Special Events.

Specialised Programs consist of our Student Performance Ensembles, our program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students Murrawadeen Goodjarga, Gifted Programs for those interested in creating work, Touring Works specialised performance groups, boys-specific programs, The Let’s Series for schools to come together and share their own performances, and showcases of the best submitted work across Sydney Catholic Schools.

Teacher Professional Learning enables CaSPA to provide programs to enhance teaching skills in the performing arts through workshops and mentorship. Teachers can sign up for programs including HSC workshops, Network Meetings, Boys Bootcamps and the Let’s Series.

Our team also spends much of its time providing In-School Support based on a school’s particular need. Schools can request support for one-off projects, ongoing mentorship, participate in our Diverse Learning program or draw on the extensive resources available in our Resource Centre.

Special Events allow us to provide our students with outstanding public performance opportunities. In the past, CaSPA students have performed at Australian Catholic Youth Festival, in large-scale Archdiocesan performance festivals, and at sporting and commemorative public events.

CaSPA is inspired by a core belief in the transformative power of the performing arts. Our programs traverse the range of learning needs, empower the social and expressive self and through kinaesthetic learning, nurture the overall creative spirit of our Archdiocesan community.

All program content is underpinned by the Australian Professional Standards for Teaching and Sydney Catholic Schools’ Authentic Learning Statement. For more information, please see the latest Annual Report to the right.

The program continues to grow, inspire and excite those who participate. Check out the gallery to see some of the unique experiences students and teachers have as part of CaSPA, or navigate through the tabs above to learn more about our specific programs.
