DRAMA Improvisation Skills - The Foundation for Devising
Term 1 Week 8 Monday 16 March SCCVC Burwood 4:30pm - 6:30pm
This practical skills-based workshop will provide a challenging and confidence-boosting session and is an ideal introduction for Year 11-12 students as they prepare for ensemble work, working with texts and Group Performance. Through a variety of exercises, students will explore how to use the skills of offering, yielding, advancing as well as focus, warmups and side-coaching when devising works.
Lyn Pierse is Australia's most recognised and experienced Improvisation teacher having guided generations of professional actors, students and teachers and having coached in some of Australia's leading drama schools and theatres. It was as Theatresports National Coach for Belvoir Company B, that Lyn pioneered Theatresports teaching. Lyn has staged numerous international and national productions and is also the author of "Improvisation: The Guide". Lyn is herself a veteran Theatresports Champion and currently the director of Improcorp Australia which delivers improvisation training to the corporate sector.
MUSIC Aural Literacy with Trish Weekes

This practical workshop will explore ways to respond to the Music 1 aural paper and will equip students with an array of literacy tools.
Trish Weekes is passionate about communication, especially reading and writing. She is an experienced music teacher, lecturer and consultant in literacy education, for schools, university and business. Her special interests are literacy education, business education, academic skills and Systemic Functional Linguistics. Trish's ability to unpack the Music 1 aural paper and to develop students' aural literacy is legendary.
